1 oz. red food coloring

1 cup buttermilk

2 teaspoons white vinegar

8 oz. cream cheese, at room temperature

1/2 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature

4 cups powdered sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract
How to make Red Velvet Cake

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans and set aside. In a medium bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

In a large bowl, beat together the sugar, oil, applesauce, vanilla extract, and red food coloring until light and fluffy.
